Welcome to Beijing, the ancient, world-renowned cultural city and the capital city of China. Upon arrival, you are met by the local Asia Journeys’ guide and transferred to your hotel, the Regent Hotel 5* or similar.

Featured Excursions: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Lama Temple HuTong Pedi cab Tour
After breakfast, start your visit to China with a visit to the world’s largest public square, Tiananmen Square. Next you will walk to The Forbidden City, the palace home of the Ming and Qing Dynasty Emperors for over 500 years. After lunch, visit the Lama Temple. The Yonghe Lamasery is the largest and best preserved lamasery outside of Tibet. Then take the HuTong tour, a Pedi cab tour through the ancient streets and courtyards of Beijing. This evening enjoy a welcome banquet featuring a traditional Beijing Roast Duck dinner.

Featured Excursions: The Great Wall, the Summer Palace, Olympic Site
Today’s highlight is an excursion to the Great Wall, an astonishing feat of engineering and one of World Heritages listed by UNESCO. This afternoon pass by the Olympic Site and visit The Summer Palace, the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China. The initial construction of the Summer Palace was started in 1750, commissioned by Emperor Qinglong as a gift for his mother’s birthday. Tonight after dinner, enjoy your Acrobatics Show or the amazing show, “Legend of Kung Fu”.

After breakfast, transfer the airport for the flight to Urumqi, the capital of China’s largest province – Xinjiang. Upon arrival, you are met by your local guide and transferred to the Sheraton Hotel 5* or similar.

Today visit the largest Moslem Mosque in Xinjiang area, the Idigar Mosque, which was built in 1462; Visit the family Tomb of Abakh Khoja, who was the most powerful ruler of Kashgar in the 17th century. Tonight board the evening train to Kuche.

Upon arrival in Kuche which dates to 200BC, you will be met by your local guide and escorted to your Hotel (local best). Begin your sightseeing with the famed Kezil 1000 Buddha Caves, perhaps the oldest caves in China, and the Great Wall Beacon Towers. Tonight, enjoy a special dinner featuring fascinating Quci Dance and Musical performances.

Featured Excursions: Gaochang, Grape Valley and Flaming Mountain
Arrival in Turpan, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to the Hotel (or similar). Visit the Ancient City of Gaochang, the ancient walled capital of the Uyghurs, built in the first century B. C., Your tour continues to the Flaming Mountains, named for their vibrant color. You’ll also visit Grape Valley, in lush contrast to the desert surrounding it.

Featured Excursions: Karez Water System
Visit the ancient Karez Water System which was built during the Qing Dynasty and is considered one of the 3 greatest ancient projects in China; the other two being the Great Wall and the Grand Canal. It is comprised of a series of wells and connected underground channels. This afternoon visit Suliman’s Minaret and a local village. You’ll also visit the ruins of Jiaohe City, where large fragments of actual streets and buildings remain. In the evening, board the train to Dunhuang. Transfer to your hotel.

Featured Excursions: Mogao Grottos, Crescent Moon Lake
Today’s highlighted excursion is to visit the Mogao Grottos, which is the most extensive and exquisite collection of Buddhist paintings and sculptures in the world. Today, there remain a total of 492 grottos, 45,000 square meters of murals, 2,400 painted statues and over 250 residential caves. Proceed to Crescent Moon Lake and the impressive Singing Sand Dunes, where the oasis meets the desert. Enjoy a camel ride into the dunes.

Featured Excursions: Wild Goose Pagoda, Terra–Cotta Warriors
Enjoy a tour to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which had become the emblem of Xi’an city, and was built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty. Then visit the 7000 life-size Terra-cotta warriors and horses which guarded the emperor’s burial site for over 2,000 years. A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tonight enjoy an Imperial Dumpling Banquet and Tang Dynasty Dinner opera show, performing the original music and dancing of the Tang Dynasty.
