Tibet Exploration 15 Days

Day 1 West Coast – Beijing
Depart from the West Coast to Beijing.
Day 2 Arrival in Beijing (D)
Arrive in Beijing, capital city of China. After arrival, you are met by our Asia Journeys’ local guide and transferred to the Sofitel Wanda Beijing Hotel 5* or similar.
Day 3 Beijing (AB, L, SD)
Featured Excursions: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Lama Temple HuTong Tour, and a Beijing Roast Duck Dinner

After breakfast, start your visit to China with a visit to the world’s largest public square Tiananmen Square. Next you will walk to The Forbidden City, the palace home of the Ming and Qing Dynasty Emperors for over 500 years. After lunch, visit the Lama Temple. The Yonghe Lamasery is the largest and best preserved lamasery outside of Tibet. Then take the HuTong tour, a Pedi cab tour through the ancient streets and courtyards of Beijing. This evening enjoy a welcome banquet featuring a traditional Beijing Roast Duck dinner.
Day 4 Beijing (AB, L, D)
Featured Excursions: The Great Wall, Summer Palace, Olympic Site

Today’s highlight is an excursion to the Great Wall, an astonishing feat of engineering and one of the World Heritages listed by UNESCO. This afternoon pass by the Olympic Site and visit The Summer Palace, the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China. The initial construction of the Summer Palace was started in 1750, commissioned by Emperor Qinglong as a gift for his mother’s birthday. Tonight after dinner, enjoy your Acrobatics Show or the amazing show, “Legend of Kung Fu”.
Day 5 Beijing (AB, L)
Featured Excursions: Temple of Heaven
After breakfast, visit the Temple of Heaven, where the emperors came to pray for good harvests. After lunch, the rest of time free for your own exploration (a good rest is a must before flying to Lhasa).

Day 6 Beijing – Lhasa (AB, L, D)
Featured Excursions: Majiami Bar, Barkhor Market

Fly to Tibet. Arrive at Gongar Airport, meet your local guide and drive 100KM to Lhasa to check in to your Hotel. Relax, to get used to the altitude. Later, leisurely stroll through the Barkhor Market, and have a nice cup of coffee at the famous Makyeame Bar, the legendary bar where the 6th Dalai Lama met with his lover. Accommodations at the Brahamputura Hotel 5* or similar.
Day 7 Lhasa (AB, L, D)
Featured Excursions: Portala Palace, Jokhang Temple

This morning’s highlight is a guided tour of the Portala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama, which was originally built in the 7th century by King Sotsen Gampo and rebuilt by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. In the afternoon, visit one of the oldest temples. Tibet, Jokhang Temple, which is situated at the heart of the oldest section of the city and built in the 7th century by King Songsanganbu.
Day 8 Lhasa (AB, L, D)
Featured Excursions: Drepung & Sera Monastery, Norbulingka
Today visit the Drepung Monastery, the biggest Gelupa monastery in the west suburb of Lhasa, which was built in 1416 by Tsongapa’s disciple Jamyang-Choje. Continue your monastery visit to Sera Monastery, the second biggest Gelupa Monastery in the north suburb of Lhasa, which was built in 1419 by Tsongapa’s disiple Skya-yeshi.

Day 9 Lhasa - Gyantse (AB, L, D)
Featured Excursions: Yamdrok Lake
Drive 270KM to Gyantse. On the way, visit the beautiful and sacred Yamdork Lake. Accommodations at the Gyangtse Hotel local the best 3* or similar.

Day 10 Gyantse - Shigatse (AB, L, D)
Featured Excursions: Kunbum Stupa & Pelkor Chode Monastery, Tashilunpo Monastery
After visiting the Kunbum Stupa & Pelkor Chode Monastery, which houses the most magnifi cent Newari buildings in Tibet, drive 90KM to Shigatse to see the Tashilunpo Monastery, residence of the Pancha Lama. Accommodations at the Shigatse Hotel local the best 3* or similar.

Day 11 Shigatse - Tsedang (AB, L, D)
Drive 340KM through the Yarlung Valley along the Bramaputra River to Tsedang. Accommodations at the local the best 3* or similar.
Day 12 Tsedang (AB, L, D)
Featured Excursions: Samye Temple
This mornings sightseeing includes the oldest Samye temple in Tibet. In the afternoon visit Yumbulakhang, the first castle built for the first Tibetan King and also Tsangdruk Temple, one of the oldest in Tibet, built in the 7th century. Accommodations at the Drepung Hotel local the best 3* or similar.

Day 13 Tsedang – Lhasa – Chengdu (AB, L, D)
Featured Excursions: Panda Research Center, Dufu Cottage, a Tea House, Sichuan Hotpot
After breakfast, drive back to Lhasa airport for your flight to Chengdu Upon arrival in Chengdu visit the Panda Research Center, where you will have the option of holding a baby panda. Later visit Dufu Cottage, home and garden of China’s most famous poet, Stop by one of Chengdu’s famous Tea Houses and tonight enjoy a Sichuan Hotpot dinner. Accommodations at the Crowne Plaza Hotel 5* or similar.

Day 14 Chengdu – Hong Kong (AB, L)
Transfer to airport for your flight to Hong Kong. Upon arrival in Hong Kong, you are met by your local guide and escorted to the Langham Place Hotel 5* or similar.
Day 15 Hong Kong (AB, L)
Featured Excursions: Stanley Market, Repulse Bay, Aberdeen’s Floating Community , Victoria Peak
Today we take a half-day sightseeing tour of Stanley Market, Repulse Bay, Aberdeen’s Floating Community and the famous Victoria Peak. Dinner on Your own.

Day 16 Hong Kong – West Coast (AB)
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the USA. Arrive same day.
